Subter’s model is simple: publish paid, resolve free. Presenting yourself in the directory needs a subscription; looking anyone up never does.

What’s always free
Resolving anyone — fetching a card, document, or key log, and verifying it — needs no account and no payment. Ever.
If you lapse
Your account and keys are kept. You drop out of discovery (handle lookup, profile) until you re-subscribe — but contacts who already have your fingerprint can still resolve you.
Plans & managing your subscription
See current plans and prices on the pricing page. Subscribe, change plan, or cancel any time from your account. Payments are handled on the web through our billing provider — Subter never stores your card details.
Why paid at all?
Charging to publish (rather than to read) keeps the directory free to use for everyone, aligns the service with the people it represents rather than with advertisers, and funds running it without harvesting data. Reads stay free, unlogged, and open on purpose.
